RosaLilaLand- Case Study

Pearl lemon Expert Team

Introduction

Game Title: RosaLilaLand
Client: DMB

Client’s Goal:
DMB aimed to create a joyful, colorful, and inclusive Roblox experience that encourages exploration, emotional safety, and fun. The goal was to offer a non-competitive, freeform amusement park with activities and zones that help users feel engaged, uplifted, and socially connected.

The game includes:

  • A Sky Roller Coaster
  • A Mini-Basketball Court
  • A Trampoline Zone
  • A Disco Dance Floor with color-changing lights
  • Tree Swings arranged in a carousel layout
  • Counseling Rooms, accessed via NPCs with panther heads (Game Masters / GMs)

Other NPCs include friendly clouds with faces, elephants, and humans, creating a diverse and whimsical park population.

Conceptualization Phase

DMB shared their desire for a playful, emotionally resonant space that mixes light-hearted gameplay with subtle support elements. We collaborated early on to balance fantasy aesthetics (bright colors, floating elements) with grounded emotional touchpoints like social zones and accessible NPC interactions.

The map was designed as a circular open park with central rides and attractions flanked by visually distinct sub-areas. The idea of counseling rooms was presented as optional, warm spaces—not as “therapy rooms,” but simply supportive zones users could choose to enter.

Conceptualization Phase
Pre-production Phase 1

Pre-production Phase 1

We divided the project into two major tasks:

  • Active Play Areas (roller coaster, trampoline, hoops, swings)
  • Supportive and Exploration Areas (NPCs, chill zones, counseling rooms)

Tasks:

  • Developed initial terrain and layout in Roblox Studio
  • Designed visual mockups for each ride and transition zones
  • Created a narrative flow for how users interact with the Panther GMs
  • Designed non-linear movement: users can roam freely, not mission-based

The client was hands-on during this phase and approved our sketches and progression plan quickly.

Production Phase 1

We began full production using:

  • Roblox Studio for world building
  • Blender for optimized, stylized models
  • Photoshop and Paint3D for hand-colored textures

Key developments:

  • Sky Coaster with physics scripting using constraints and slow-speed motors for smoother ride experience
  • Basketball Minigame using region triggers and a simple point tracker GUI
  • Trampoline bounce behavior coded with tween animations and spring forces
  • Tree Swings built with HingeConstraints and rotation tweening to replicate carousel physics
  • Disco Floor programmed with timed Color3 lerping for dynamic light changes

To maintain cohesive visuals and smooth performance, we manually tuned each area for mobile and low-end device optimization.

Production Phase 1
Pre-production Phase 2

Pre-production Phase 2

Focus shifted to implementing the counseling rooms and interaction systems:

  • Wrote out dialogue systems and tone for Panther GMs
  • Designed access flow: clicking the Panther NPCs triggers a dialogue UI, followed by teleport
  • Built calm interior rooms with soundscapes and soft lighting for visual comfort
  • Ensured the counseling rooms felt distinct but not disconnected from the main world

DMB reviewed the tone of the Panther GMs carefully. The aim was to avoid clinical or heavy language and instead use calm, friendly, affirming dialogue that gently introduces the idea of taking time for oneself.

Production Phase 2

We finalized:

  • Panther GM NPCs using custom animated rigs and dialog triggers
  • Counseling Rooms: ambient sound, camera panning, low-saturation lighting
  • UI design and user flow: handled carefully to be subtle and inviting
  • Testing for bugs and performance, especially during transitions between zones

We also handled:

  • Device resolution support (mobile to desktop)
  • Adjusting lighting behavior in disco and swing zones
  • Final smoothing for trampoline motion and coaster alignment

The counseling experience was thoroughly tested to ensure no bugs during teleport or exits.

Production Phase 2
Marketing and Promotion

Marketing and Promotion

While monetization wasn’t a focus, DMB wanted the game to be visually appealing and meaningful. We supported them with:

  • A custom game icon and thumbnail
  • In-game descriptions emphasizing joy, color, and support
  • Friendly CTAs like “Come Play with Friends!” and “Feel Good in RosaLilaLand”

Game visuals were included in a social media campaign, including a short teaser.

Launch and Release

The game was uploaded under a Roblox group where DMB was given manager access and we retained developer permissions. Soft launch testing revealed minimal bugs. The public release was smooth, with an above-average session duration and replays of rides and trampoline activity.

Panther NPCs also received positive engagement and were revisited by users voluntarily.

Outcome

The game successfully met the client’s goals for accessibility, positivity, and gentle social interaction. Users enjoyed:

  • The smooth coaster ride
  • The soothing yet vibrant disco
  • The surprising and calming presence of the counseling rooms
  • The playfulness of the clouds, elephants, and fantasy characters

Feedback indicated that players returned not just for rides, but for the “vibe” of the world. The world felt welcoming and playful without pressure to win or compete.
